Sweden

Sweden, with the complete and official name of The Kingdom of Sweden, is one of the Scandinavian Nordic Countries. Located towards northern Europe, Sweden borders with Finland to the north east, with the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Bothnia to the east, with Norway to the west, and with the Kattegat Strait and the Skagerrak Strait to the south west.

The Kingdom of Sweden is a Constitutional Monarchy which counts with a King and a Prime Minister. The capital and the largest city of this country is Stockholm. The size of Sweden is of about 450,000 km2 and its population is of about 9 million people in such a way that there are 20 inhabitants per km2.

Until the 19th century, Sweden was among the poorest countries in its continent. During the 19th century, the country’s communications, transportations, and industries progressed in such a way that Sweden started showing a great growth and development towards beginnings of the 20th century, a growth which had helped it improve and stabilize from that époque into the future.

Sweden follows a social welfare system which has helped it improve its standard of living and keeping it high as time passes by. Health and education are among the main worries in the social welfare state if Sweden, in such a way that the population can enjoy free education at all levels and important facilities regarding health care among others.

Weather in Sweden is generally template during summer time. During autumn and spring the climate is very nice and enjoyable as well, although in winter time the temperature might be very low and snow is often present. The northern area of the country is very interesting due to the fact that by visiting it, tourists could be at one of the few places in the world where the sun doesn’t set for a part of the summer at the same time that it is night during a part of winter as well.

Those tourists who enjoy sea related spots should visit the eastern area of the country since it contains a long coastline full of beautiful landscapes and interesting spots to meet. On the other hand, those tourists who enjoy the country side and green areas should visit the southern side of the country where they could meet many forests and agricultural spots.
