There are a number of must-see sights and attractions in Athens, Greece.

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel that contains some of the most famous buildings in the world, such as the Parthenon. The Temple of Olympian Zeus is another significant archaeological site, while the Panathenaic Stadium was used for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.

Other popular tourist attractions include the National Archaeological Museum, the Byzantine and Christian Museum, and the Benaki Museum.

Athens is also home to a number of parks and gardens, such as the National Garden, which is a great place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of this historic city.

The town of Laurio

Laurio, is a small Greek town located within the metropolitan area of Athens, towards the south eastern area of Attica. This town is where the Municipality of Laverotiki is located, and is one of the main sources of income for the entire region of Athens due to the silver mines it has.

The mysthic Elefsina

The interesting town of Elefsina is located at about 30 km North West from Athens, in Greece. This town used to be the second most important one in ancient Greece, and is strongly related to a very important Greek myth in which the Goddess Demeter had a main role.

Cape Sounion and its sancturary

Cape Sounion is a Greek destination located at about 64 kilometers from the south eastern area of Athens, in the regin of Attica. Cape Sounion, its actual name, has gone through several modifications. In Ancient Greece, this area was known as Sunium, later it became Sounio, and then The Cape of Sounion or Cape Sounion.

Athens Festival during summer time

During summer time, Athens offers an extra attraction provided through the Athens Festival held in the open air amphitheater of Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Athens festival can be enjoyed every year during summer time, between the months of June and October, turning this season into a great one for meeting the city.
