The town of Florina is the capital of the prefecture of same name and is located within the northern region of Greece. This town has a population of about 12800 inhabitants and counts with very attractive landscapes and amazing natural areas as well as some unique historical spots.

Florina is a very antique town which was founded as long ago as during the Byzantine period. According to historians, one of the most important historical moments in the town’s history was when it fell to the Ottoman Empire during the 14th century. Many constructions and interesting spots from that époque can still be seen to the date, being among the main attractions offered by Florina.

Towards the 18th century, this town was populated by inhabitants from a variety of origins, such as Albanians, Turks, and Slavs as well as Greeks. During the 19th and beginnings of the 20th centuries, Florina went through several important historical events. Besides this, this town is also famous by its fabrics and textiles and exports some leather related products to several destinations as well.
