Emborios is a tranquil and quiet village located in the southern part of the Greek island of Kalymnos, in the Dodecanese archipelago. This village is the last one a tourist would find when arriving to Kalymnos by its port, and can be reached by following Kalamoti Road, near Komi and to the east of Armolia.
Despite of the fact that it is one of the smallest and less popular villages in this region of Greece, Emborios is very attractive and counts with a very rich historical past. According to experts, this village was already inhabited in the year 3000 BC. During that époque, Emborios was called Lefkonio, and was one of the most important trading centers of its region. But, due to its beauty, many of the visitors who are at other villages or towns in Kalymnos often approach to Mavra Volia and this can cause it to be crowded.
