The interesting Vajdahunyad Castle

Vajdahunyad Castle is a very interesting construction located in the City Park of Budapest and one of the main tourist attractions visitors could find during a visit to Hungary. Although this castle counts with several structural components very similar to the Castle of Transylvania, it also counts with several unique elements and a peculiar combination of styles, being this way very interesting for any visitor who enjoys meeting peculiar constructions.

One interesting fact about the Vajdahunyad Castle is that originally it was first built from wood and cardboard with the purpose of being part of what was called the Millenary Exhibition of 1896. But, due to the fact that this castle became one of the most liked constructions of such exhibition, it was then rebuilt using stable materials such as brick and stone.

Nowadays, when visiting this castle tourists could not only meet a construction that is interesting from the point of view of architecture, design, and history, but also could find the Agricultural Museum of Hungary which is hosted in it. In the Agricultural Museum of Hungary, visitors would be able to find a variety of objects, elements and facts related to the agriculture and its history in Hungary, such as machines, the history of horticulture, hunting, horse breeding, pig breeding, domestication, viticulture, fishery, and the history of grain growing among many others.

The Castle of Vajdahunyad was designed by the architect Ignac Alpar, combining many of the architectonic styles that are more common in Hungary. This way, this castle counts with some buildings of Romanesque style, a Romanesque Benedictine abbey, a Gothic gate, a yard with several Renaissance elements, and a main facade showing a clear Baroque style.

Next to the largest facade of the Vajdahunyad Castle, visitors would find the statue of Anonymous. This statue shows Anonymous hiding his face in a hood, symbolizing his unknown identity, since he became very famous by his writings, but his identity was never known. As it can be seen, this construction is full of interesting elements and might be one of the most appealing attractions visitors would find in Budapest.
