Agios Georgios, also known as Kardiakafti, is a village situated within the municipality of Pyrgos, in the Greek archipelago of the Dodecanese. This village, with a population of around 1000 inhabitants can be found at about 2 kilometers from the capital of Pyrgos, at about half way between Simoupoulo and Oinoi, and near other interesting towns such as Lampeti and Lasteika.
The village of Agios Georgios is surrounded by beautiful natural spots and attractive landscapes with several forests and rural spots. Besides this, the landscape of Agios Giorgios is also composed by several hills located towards the eastern side of the community, providing it with a very attractive background that contrasts with its coastlines.
Agios Nikolaos is a great destination for all those tourists who wish to have a vacation at a quiet and tranquil spot which allows them to relax and loose stress while avoiding crowds. Despite of the fact that during summer time, and as most of the other Dodecanese spots, this destination receives important amounts of tourists, most of them approach to it with excursions that include several other villages in its itinerary and therefore only stay for a few ours.
The main beach of Agios Nikolaos is very beautiful and counts with soft golden sands as well as nice clear waters. This beach is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing as well as for practicing several water sports, in such a way that during the high season tourists can observe, for example, swimmers, sailors, and windsurfers among others.
When visiting Agios Giorgios, tourists should make sure of trying the local dishes at the traditional taverns of the village. The taverns of Agios Nikolaos offer a variety of traditional Greek dishes as well as some peculiar local ones, most of which are prepared with fresh fish and are the perfect closure after a day at the beach. For the night, visitors could chose among a few rooms and small hotels, and although this village does not tend to be crowded, it is still recommendable to book them in advance when planning a visit during high season.
