Pápa is a very interesting town located within the county of Vezsprém, near the Bakony hills, and in the Hungarian region of Central Transdanubia. This city is the tourism and economic centre of its region and is renowned as the most attractive small Baroque town of Hungary. From the point of view of history, this is one of the most interesting spots tourists could find during a vacation in Hungary, and therefore is a must for all those who wish to meet antique constructions and appealing cultural places.
The town of Pápa has a population of approximately 33,500 inhabitants and an area of around 91,5 km2, in such a way that it has a density of about 370 inhabitants per km2. An important percentage of thee inhabitants are descendants of a large group Germans who settled in this town during the 18h century.
One of the first places tourists should try to visit when going to Pápa is its historical centre. The historical centre of Pápa is one of the largest of its kind in Hungary and has several interesting constructions as well as cafes shops and museums. The main museum of Pápa, the Kekfesto or Blue Dyeing Museum, is located in this area of the city, and is hosted in a construction which used to be a famous textile factory.
