Alonnisos is an island, a municipality, and a village located within the Sporades archipelago of Greece. Alonnisos is well known in the Sporades by its production of grapes, olives, almonds, and figs among others. Besides this, this island also bases part of its resources on its fishing activity, but the most important amount of its income comes from tourism and the activities related to it. In the last decades, this island has been becoming more and more popular from the point of view of tourism and despite of the fact that it has been modernized and adapted to this fact, it has also managed to maintain most of its natural beauty unchanged.
One of the most attractive spots tourists would find in Alonnisos is the National Marine Park. The National Marine Park of Alonnisos was the first one of its kind to be founded in Greece and is a very interesting place to visit, especially to all those who enjoy observing the nature and undersea life from close.
