The island of Chios and its history

Chios is one of the north eastern Aegean Islands, and a great choice for those who are willing to have a relaxing and fun vacation in Greece. This island has a territory of approximately 905 km2 and a population of around 52,300 inhabitants, and its climate is mainly Mediterranean. The best time of the year to visit this island is between May and July or between September and October, since during high season it tends to be crowded and temperatures might be too high to enjoy all the activities it offers.

Agios Kirkykos, in Icaria

Agios Kirykos is a municipality as well as the capital town of the island of Icaria, within the north eastern Aegean Islands. During a vacation in Greece in this destination, visitors could meet interesting antique constructions, beautiful landscapes, attractive beaches, and a very charming overall sight provided by the combination of all these elements.

The town of Poros

Poros is a small and charming Greek town located within the Saronic Gulf Islands, in the municipality of Elios Pronnoci and, more exactly, towards the south eastern area of Kefalonia. This destination is very attractive for a variety of reasons since it offers several different attractions and could be a great choice for tourists who enjoy the sea as well as to those who enjoy the nature or to those who wish to meet spots rich in history.

The island and municipality of Hydra

The island of Hydra belongs to the Greek Saronic Islands, in the Aegean Sea. Besides this, it is also interesting to know that the Hydra Gulf separates this island from the Peloponnese. Anciently, this island name was Hydra, a word which refers to ancient springs it had until about 50 years ago.

Spetses – in Attica

Spetses, located within the prefecture of Attica, is a small sized island which belongs to the Saronic Gulf islands’ archipelago. This island used to belong to the Argolidocorinthis archipelago until about half century ago, when that prefecture became divided between Corinthia and Argolis.

The small island of Moni

Moni is a little island part of the Greek Sardonic Gulf islands. This little island has a sister islet called Angistri, and together they make an excellent destination to all those who enjoy peaceful and beautiful places as well as attractive beaches and great sea landscapes.

The beginnings of Aegina

The island of Aegina is part of the Greek Saronic Islands, located in the Saronic Gulf. Aegina shows a triangular shape and counts with a territory of 15 kilometers of width and 13 kilometers of length, and almost two third parts of this territory are occupied by an extinct volcano.

The attractive Zakynthos

Zakynthos is a very attractive island located within the Ionian Archipelago of Greece, on the western coast of the country. This island has an area of approximately 410 km2, an extension that causes it to be the third largest of the archipelago. Besides this, it might also be interesting to know that Zakynthos has a population of approximately 41,500 inhabitants and a density of about 102 inhabitants per km2.

The Diapondia Islands

The Diapondia Islands is a group of five islands located within the Ionian archipelago of Greece. Three of these five islands, Mathraki, Ereikousa, and Othoni are populated, although they count with a very small amount of inhabitants. Despite of this, tourists could easily find all the basic commodities and facilities they might need in order to have a comfortable vacation.

The small Paxi

Paxi is the smallest island in the Ionian archipelago of Greece and a very attractive spot which tourists should not miss when they travel to that part of the country. According to the ancient Greek mythology, Paxi was created by Poseidon when he hit Corfu with his trident looking for peacefulness in the place where he would live with Amphitrite, his wife.
